Although the venture capital system was introduced to Korea long ago, it was anything but a full-fledged system until the mid 1990s. The venture capital market began to flourish in the late 1990s, growing rapidly around the year 2000. After the venture bubble burst, venture capital investment experienced a rapid decline. Today, after all the phases it has gone through, the venture capital market has acquired a different market structure compared to what it had 10 years ago.
