The biotech sector plays a key role in Switzerland’s economy, acting as a driver in national growth and innovation. The country’s biotech companies – start-ups and mature companies
alike – continue to benefit from close links to academia at home as well as abroad and attract highly qualified employees. One of the few sectors that continued to grow during the economic crisis, the Swiss biotech industry has shown itself to be vigorously robust. Twenty years after SPP BioTech was launched and more than twelve years since the Swiss Biotech Association was established, examination of the sector emphasises its underlying sustainability.
