Statement of Secretary Steven Chu U.S. Department of Energy Before the
Senate Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development
Chairman Feinstein, Ranking Member Alexander, and Members of the Subcommittee, thank you for the opportunity to appear before you today to discuss the President’s Fiscal Year 2012 budget request for the Department of Energy.
In his State of the Union address, President Obama laid out a plan for the United States to win the future by out-innovating, out-educating and out-building the rest of the world, while at the same time addressing the deficit. The President’s budget request invests in much-needed programs while cutting back where we can afford to.
