◆ Summary
In its new initiative for SMEs entitled “Building on SMEs: greater responsibility ? greater freedom”, the Economics Ministry has identified seven fields which are of crucial importance for SMEs and their commercial success:

▶ Innovation
▶ Skills
▶ Hand-overs and start-ups
▶ Market opportunities abroad
▶ Financing
▶ Raw materials, energy and materials efficiency
▶Reducing bureaucracy

In these fields, the German Government ? in a close dialogue with the SME community ? is improving the conditions for entrepreneurship, creating greater freedom for SMEs, and providing a further stimulus for growth and jobs in Germany.
