The International Symposium is composed with 2 plenary lectures : ‘The impact of the microbiota on animal models and how to handle it’ (Prof. Axel Kornerup Hansen, University of Copenhagen) and ‘Organotypic vasculatures from biology to pathophysiology’ (Prof. Gou Young Koh, KAIST), and 17 program sessions including Humanized animal model, New Challenge; Lab animal resources, Immune disorders research using Lab animal models, Nanotherapy, Single cell genomics in disease models, Marmoset models in biomedical research, Understanding the link between inflammation and cancer, Policy of laboratory animal in drug development, Translational research for biomedical application of gene therapy and genome editing, Natural compound based drug development, Toxicological studies of ultrafine or nanoparticles, Design and management of gnotobiotic grade animal facility, Role of attending veterinarian and post-approval monitoring program, KLAT Education : GLP/CRO and Lab animal technicians, KLAT Education : Role of laboratory animal technicians in the development of new drugs and medical devices, Nagoya protocols workshop by NIBR, IACUC workshop etc.

 The 1st KALAS-JALAS joint symposium entitled with “Marmoset models in biomedical research” will be also held on July 17 and several young speakers from AFLAS will participate in this international symposium. In addition, Lab animal equipments, devices, and facilities from Lab animal-related industries will be exhibited during the symposium.

 The symposium will be supported by several institutions, agencies and organizations including KOFST, MAFRA, NIFDS, RDA, IJTO, KCLAM, KMPC etc. and I would like to thank all those concerned in this symposium.

 I wish all of you participants to enjoy this KALAS international symposium that give a opportunity to broaden your academic knowledge, and carry back with you fond memories from Jeju island. Once again, I really appreciate for those who support for this international symposium. Thank you!
