Patents werw created to promote innovation by tranting inventors exclu-sive rights to their invensive rights to their inventions.  For the past 200 years of so, the market for trading intellectual property(IP) was relatively tame, with understandable rules of engagement among IP own-ers.  But in the twenty-first century, the IP market is becoming both more uncertain and more hazardous, in part because a new breed of own-er has burst onto the scene.
