Opinion Former's Conference on lntellectual Property for Health

This conference drew a near-unanimous conclusion that the protection of intellectual property is considered an essential factor to promote innovation and stimulate research and development of new products, including pharmaceuticals, by the private sector. Without an
adequate return on investment, the high cost of drug development is likely to preclude the development of new medicines.
