Stereochemistry

Application Deadline
Applications for this meeting must be submitted by July 11, 2010. Please apply early, as some meetings become oversubscribed (full) before this deadline. If the meeting is oversubscribed, it will be stated here. Applications will still be accepted for oversubscribed meetings. However, they will only be considered by the Conference Chair if more seats become available due to cancellations.

The arrangements of atoms in space determines chemistry and concomitantly defines stereochemistry. As such stereochemical principles underpin all that is chemically significant. The special character of chemistry comes from the ability to design and prepare new molecular entities from a base set of precepts that results in new catalysts, materials and medicinals. These same precepts allow us to rationalize the chemistry of biology and biologically active compounds. Although our fundamental understanding of stereochemistry may reduce to phenomena on the molecular scale and at the origins of life processes, its practical aspects extrapolate to ton-scale production and long sustainable technologies. It is a daunting task to cover this topic in one conference, but for 35 years the Stereochemistry GRC has been a leading forum for bringing chemists together to discuss issues of structure, property and synthesis.

The 2010 meeting will focus on 8 highly active subtopics of stereochemistry. A plenary program of 32 speakers and 7 moderators will form the basis for the conference. There will be also 2 poster sessions with associated "chalktalks" for new researchers. An open atmosphere for informal discussion events in the afternoon and late evening will be fostered.
