Bioelectrochemistry

Application Deadline
Applications for this meeting must be submitted by June 20, 2010. Please apply early, as some meetings become oversubscribed (full) before this deadline. If the meeting is oversubscribed, it will be stated here. Applications will still be accepted for oversubscribed meetings. However, they will only be considered by the Conference Chair if more seats become available due to cancellations.
Related Meeting Information
The Bioelectrochemistry Gordon Research Conference will be held in conjunction with the Bioelectrochemistry Gordon-Kenan Research Seminar. Those interested in attending both meetings must submit an application for the GKRS in addition to an application for the GRC. Please refer to the Bioelectrochemistry GKRS web page for more information.

The complex cell membrane in the electric field
The intricate interplay between electric field and biological matter sets the stage for the 2010 Bioelectrochemistry Gordon Conference. We will focus particularly on the interaction between the complex cell membrane and the electric field. From the basics of membrane permeabilization and resealing, to medical exploitations in the treatment of cancer. Also the effect of weak electric fields on cells, mechanisms in cells for detecting electrical signals, and use of these insights for diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases will be in focus.

Science from nano to macro and scientists from A-Z
We welcome all researchers along the line from basic understanding of membrane-field interactions to clinicians exploiting these technologies in clinical trials. A Gordon Research Seminar is associated to the conference, and we particularly look forward to a diverse participation of junior researchers and highly specialized experts.
