안녕하십니까, 국가과학기술연구회(NST)의 지원을 받아 ?(초)미세플라스틱의 인체 및 환경 안전성 연구 융합클러스터? 사업을 수행하고 있는 안전성평가연구소 박준우입니다. 이 사업의 목적은 지금 우리가 맞닥뜨리고 있는 미세플라스틱의 위협에 대하여 해양, 담수, 독성, 위해성, 생태, 분석, 모니터링 등 다양한 분야의 전문가 네트워크를 활용하여 현재와 미래에 닥쳐올 수 있는 미세플라스틱의 위험성에 대한 과학적 대응책을 마련하는 것입니다. 현재 19개 산·학·연 기관의 43명의 전문가가 본 융합클러스터에 참여하고 있어 명실공히 미세플라스틱 문제를 다루는 국내 연구집단 중 최대 규모라고 할 수 있습니다.
1868년 최초의 플라스틱이 소개된 이래, 편리성과 경제성은 플라스틱의 전 지구적인 생산과 소비증가를 유도해 왔으며, 그 결과 플라스틱의 역습, 미세플라스틱의 공포라는 현실에 직면하고 있습니다. 하지만, 신규 환경오염물질로서 미세플라스틱이 얼마나 인체 또는 환경에 위험한지 평가/예측하거나, 그 위험성을 줄이거나 없애는 데 필요한 기술적, 과학적 수준은 현재 매우 부족한 실정입니다.
이에 본 융합클러스터는 국내외 미세플라스틱 연구자를 초대하여 ?International Workshop for Microplastics 2019: Current State of Art Knowledge and Future Directions in (Nano)Microplastic Research?를 개최하고자 합니다. 이를 통해 최신 연구동향 및 성과를 공유함으로써 직면한 미세플라스틱 문제의 심각성과 이에 대처하는 방안을 살펴보고, 전문가 토론을 통해 향후 필요한 기술적, 과학적 해결방안을 모색하고자 하오니 많은 관심과 참석을 부탁드립니다. 감사합니다.
