The International Conference of the Genetics Society of Korea 2022 (ICGSK 2022)

On behalf of the organizing committee, I love having you to the International Conference of the Genetics Society of Korea 2022 (ICGSK 2022). The conference will be held at the Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel located in the beautiful island of Jeju from October 12 to 14, 2022. Basically our committee is currently working on holding offline meetings with some exceptions without reference to COVID-19 situation. We have organized the program under the theme of “From Mendelism to Modern Genetics” for the conference. In particular, this year marks the 200th anniversary of Gregor J. Mendel's birth. Since Mendel's achievements, genetics has developed remarkably so far.

This year, we are proud to have Dr. Huda Zoghbi (Baylor College of Medicine, USA), Dr. Marianne Bronner (Caltech, USA), and Dr. Bong-Kiun Kaang (Seoul National University, Korea) as plenary lecturers. In addition, six kinds of Symposia (Cancer Genetics, Developmental Genetics, Plant Genetics, Forensic Genetics, Medical Genetics and Genomics & Chromosomics), three kinds of Forums (Researches on sensories, R&D trend for innovative drug development and Aging & Genetics), Mini Sessions (IBS and BRL) and Special Sessions (Genes & Genomics and Jeju Special) will be prepared.

One of the highlights of the ICGSK conference will be the oral and poster presentations by young investigators. There will also be a series of ceremonies for the GSK academic research award to an experienced and distinguished investigator and outstanding oral and poster presentation awards to the young investigators. Furthermore, we will host an exhibition showcasing research materials and equipments provided by many companies and industries.

Hopefully, I am confident that this conference will provide all attendants with the most up-to-date information on the latest scientific achievements and will facilitate collaborative networks among domestic and international scientists. For foreign participants, I also want you to feel the culture of Korea and the hospitality of Koreans.

I look forward to seeing all of you at this extraordinary event this October.
