□ 현황
ㅇ 건강에 대한 관심 급증
- 남아공은 여성 전체의 40%가 비만으로, 사하라이남에서 과체중이 가장 많음.
- 성인뿐만 아니라 25%의 여자아이 및 20%의 남자아이들이 소아비만
- 비만으로 인한 후천성 당뇨, 고혈압 환자가 증가하고 있는 추세(인구의 1/3이 고혈압, 1/4이 당뇨)
- 10월 15~19일을 비만 인식 주간(National Obesity Week)으로 정해 전국적으로 건강한 라이프스타일을 권장

- 남아공 제약시장은 수요의 50%를 남아공 자국 제품으로 공급할 수 있으나, 의료기기 시장은 저개발 산업 중 하나로, 95%를 수입에 의존하고 있음.

ㅇ 의료기기 공급업체 특징
- 남아공 국내 의료기기 업체들은 주로 영세기업과 같은 아주 소규모이거나 중소기업으로, 제조와 납품을 겸업
- 남아공에 있는 다국적 의료기기 업체들은 국내 벤처기업과 협력하는 경우가 대다수
