Science and Technology-Led Innovation in Services for Australian Industries
Australia is now a service economy. Services account for 78% of Australia’s Gross Value Added (GVA) , 85% of employment and 21% of exports (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2006; Box 1). This reflects a global trend in which the services sector is rapidly becoming the
greatest contributor to economic activity (Wolfl, 2005) ? currently worth around $2.5 trillion in exports (World Bank, 2007). Many people see the growth in services as the next major revolution in the world economy.

It follows, therefore, that the ongoing success of Australia’s services sector will be critical to the future well-being of the nation.......계속
