The USAID Strategic Plan for Microbicide Research and Development: Current Initiatives and Next-Generation Leads
Executive Summary
Health research is integral to the ability of the U.S. Agency for internatioal Development(USAID) to achieve its deveiopment objectives world-wide. Past USAID research investments have led to products that today reach millions of people, saving lives throughout the devel-oping world. As a key implementer of the U.S President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief(PEPFAR), USAID plays a critical role in shap-ing the strategic and technical direction of microbicide research and development(R&D) to meet developing-country needs.
