European Forward Looking Activities:
Insights for building the future of Innovation Union and ERA
Introduction
The aim of this seminar was set out by Robert Burmanjer, Head of Unit for Social Sciences
and Humanities1. In his welcome address he noted that the seminar brought together
experts, national authorities, industrial stakeholders and EU policy makers to consider what
insights for the future of EU research and innovation policies might be obtained from
European and national forward looking activities (FLAs). This seminar was designed to
support the Impact Assessment of the upcoming EU research and innovation policies and
programmes.
